Category: Cookies
Prep Time:       Cook Time:       Total Time:

2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 unbeaten egg
2 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup (maybe a tad more) of red jelly/jam

In a large bowl mix first 3 ingredients (dry). Beat butter, egg and vanilla together well; add this to the dry mixture.
Place on lightly floured board. Divide into 4 parts; shape each into a roll, 13x3/4-in thick. Place each roll on ungreased cookie sheet 4-inches apart and 3-inches from cookie sheet edge. Make a depression with finger down the length of dough and fill with red jelly or jam, about 1/3 cup in all.
Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes till light golden brown. While warm cut diagonally into bars. Cool on rack.

These are a very good cookie!
