1 sheet frozen puff pastry (from a 17 oz. box)
1 can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 1/4 cups chopped nuts (pistachios, almonds, walnuts or a combination)
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup coconut (optional)
1/4 cup raisins, or other dried fruit, such as cranberries or cherries
(optional)
Bake the pastry sheet whole, according to package instructions. Cool.
Crumble into the bottom of a 13 by 9 inch baking dish that has been lightly
buttered or coated with cooking spray.
Mix together condensed milk, vanilla and milk. Pour over crumbled pastry.
Combine nuts and sugar. Sprinkle evenly over pastry and milk.
Sprinkle with coconut and raisins, if you like.
Bake in a 325 degree oven for 25-30 minutes or until the custardy milk firms
up and turns a light golden brown.
Serve hot or at room temperature.
