Sweet Cornbread

- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Put oil in the bottom of a 10 1/2 inch cast iron skillet and preheat it while you mix the ingredients. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix the liquids in a separate bowl the add to the dry ingredients. Remove the cast iron skillet from the oven and pour in the mixture. (Contents of mixture will look similar to a pancake batter). Some oil in bottom of the skillet will come over the sides of the mixture and this will give a little crunch to the corn bread. Bake in a 400 degrees F oven for about 25 minutes or until golden.
