Prep Time: Cook Time: Total Time:
1 bottle Vodka
1 batch Morello cherries
1 bag Powdered sugar
To prepare for making the kirsch, sterilize an airtight container (as you would for canning). Wash the cherries thoroughly, stem them, but do not pit them. Using a fork, poke a few holes in each so the vodka can better pull out the flavors.
Add a layer of cherries in the bottom of the sterile container, then pour a thin layer of sugar over them. Repeat the process until the container is filled. Pour the vodka over the mixture to fill the container. Put the container in a safe, dark place.
Every few months, give the container a good shake. After a year, drain the liqueur into bottle and discard (or use) the well-marinated berries.
