1 (6 oz) pkg dried spaghetti, cooked according to pkg directions
2-4 garlic cloves, minced
1 onion, chopped, optional
1/2 cup sliced celery, optional
1 lb asparagus, coarsely chopped, optional
1 (8 oz) pkg mushrooms, sliced, optional
2 1/2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup half-and-half
3/4 cup chopped cooked ham
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese, grated

Drain pasta and set aside. Saute garlic and vegetables in hot oil in Dutch oven over medium heat 5 minutes. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk and half-and-half; cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly.

Stir in spaghetti, ham and 2 tbsp parmesan. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 9 inch greased pie plate or casserole dish. Sprinkle with remaining parmesan cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 425 for 20-22 minutes or until lightly browned. Serves 6
