Category: Fruit Desserts
Prep Time:       Cook Time:       Total Time:

4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 6 1/2 inch thick rounds
2/3 cup flour
Pinch of salt
2 eggs
1 tbsp vegetable oil, plus extra for frying
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp sugar

Place flour and salt into a mixing bowl. Gradually whisk in the eggs and vegetables oil, milk and water. (The batter should be just thick enough to adhere to the apple slices. If too thin, add more flour and if too thick, add more water.)

Dip apple slices in batter. Heat about 1 inch of vegetables oil in a large frying pan to about 375 degrees. Place the apple slices in the pan, 4 to 5 at a times, taking care no to crowd them. Fry for a few minutes until the coating is crisp on both side. Turning the apples and continue frying on the other side until crisp. Drain on paper towels.

Mix cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and sprinkle on top of cooked apples while they are still hot.
