1 cup sugar
1/2 lb almonds, grated
1 cup butter
2 eggs
Grated rind of 1 lemon
2 cups flour
1 egg hold
Reserve 1/4 cup each sugar and nuts for decorating.
Cream butter; add rest of sugar, eggs and rest of almonds, lemon rind and flour. Chill. Roll thin and cut into strips or squares. Brush with yolk, sprinkle with reserved nuts and sugar. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
