Category: Ham
Prep Time:       Cook Time:       Total Time:

1 (8-to-10-lb) fully cooked shankless whole ham or half ham
1 cup honey
1/4 cup steak sauce (such as Heinz 57 Sauce)
1 tsp dry mustard

Have your butcher trim off fat and remove bone from ham; save ham bone for soup.

In a small mixing bowl, stir together honey, steak sauce, and dry mustard. Place ham in a foil roasting pan or shallow roasting pan. Pour honey mixture over ham and into cavity left by bone. Cover tightly with a large piece of heavy foil.

In a covered grill, arrange medium-hot coals around a drip pan. Test for medium heat over drip pan. Place foil-wrapped ham on grill rack, but not directly over coals. Lower grill hood and grill for 1 3/4 to 2 hours or until meat thermometer inserted in center of ham registers 140 degree.

Fold back foil top of ham. Grill for 20 to 30 minutes more to let ham absorb grilled flavor. Remove whole or half ham from grill. Let meat stand for 15 minutes. Transfer meat to a cutting board and cut into slices. Serve sliced ham with warm cooking juices. Makes 20 to 30 servings.
