1/2 gallon vanilla ice cream
1 ping whipping cream, whipped
12 eggs, separated
1 quart half-and-half
1 fifth bourbon
1 pint southern comfort
1 cup confectioners sugar
Grated nutmeg

Beat yolks until thick and pale. Gradually add 1/2 of sugar to yolks. Beat whites with a pinch of salt and gradually add rest of sugar until quite stiff. Let ice cream get soft in a large punch bowl, breaking it up. Add bourbon to the egg yolks. Pour this mixture over the ice cream. Add the half-and-half, southern comfort, and whites. Blend all this together. Stiffly whipped the whipping cream and carefully fold-in. Dust with nutmeg. Variation: for liquors substitute 1 quart blended whiskey, 1 pint rum and brandy.
