1 lb lean ground beef
1/3 cup (or more) of your favorite red wine
Spices:
(Add more or less to taste, or add your favorite spices)
1 tsp garlic salt, pepper, marjoram, dried oregano, basil, savory and thyme
1 tbsp parmesan cheese
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
For a spicy burger:
1 tsp chili powder and cumin
Pinch Tabasco
Hamburger buns
Condiments (onions, pepperoncinis lettuce, etc.)
Use the sauces below for gourmet toppings
Slices of provolone or other cheese
Flour
Optional (for sauces)
Gourmet Sauce
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 part horseradish
1 part Dijon mustard
Spicy Sauce
1 part cream cheese
1 part favorite salsa
Burgers: Mix the spices with the lean ground beef, adding the wine, Worcestershire sauce and parmesan cheese. Add a little flour as necessary if meat mixture becomes too liquidy, and also to keep it from falling apart. Form into patties of desired size. Grill the burgers. If you are making the spicy burger variation, put the pepper ingredients on the top as a dry rub.
Meanwhile, prepare the sauces and other condiments. If desired, toast the hamburger buns before piling on the condiments. Serve with a pasta salad. Enjoy!
