1 round loaf dark bread, unsliced
1 bunch scallions, chopped
6 garlic cloves, finely minced
2 tbsp butter
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, cut into small chunks and softened
2 cups sour cream
3 cups grated cheddar cheese
1 (14 oz) can artichoke hearts
Preheat oven to 350. Cut a hole about 5 inch in diameter in top of bread. Reserve crusty part to make top for loaf. IN a skillet, saute scallions and garlic in butter until they wilt. Do not burn!
Place the cream cheese in a medium bowl; add the scallions, garlic, sour cream and cheese. Mix well. Fold in artichoke hearts. Fill hollowed-out bread with this mixture. Replace top of bread and wrap in foil. Bake for 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours. Remove foil and top of bread and serve. Use thins slices of warm garlic bread as dippers.
