  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar PLUS
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (or almond, mint, etc)
  • 3/4 teaspoon oil

Grease a microwave-safe full-size mug.

Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in a bowl.

While stirring, add the milk to the flour mixture. Stir in the vanilla extract and oil and mix until smooth. Transfer the cake batter to the greased mug.

Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high heat for 1 minute. If the cake is not done, cook at 15 second intervals until done.

Serve the cake sprinkled with powdered sugar or let it cool and spread the top with frosting.
