- 5 tablespoons margarine, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk

- 6 tablespoons margarine, melted
- cinnamon sugar mixture
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a muffin tin. In a mixing bowl, combine the margarine and sugar. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the egg while the mixer is running. In another bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Add to the margarine mixture while the mixer is running, alternating it with adding the milk. Fill the prepared muffin cups half full with the batter. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes. Remove the French doughnuts from the pan immediately and dip in the melted butter to coat them evenly.
