  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons milk, or as needed
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, or as needed

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the brown sugar and mix until dissolved. Bring to a boil and let boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

While stirring, add the milk and return the frosting to a boil. Stir the frosting constantly until it comes to a boil.

Remove the pan from the heat and let cool to lukewarm. When cooled, beat the powdered sugar into the mixture until thick enough to spread. Adjust the thickness of the frosting as needed with additional powdered sugar or milk.
