Serves/Makes: 8
Ready in: > 5 hrs

  • 4 pounds fresh beef brisket
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Trim any excess fat from the brisket. Cut to fit the crock pot if needed.

Combine the salt, dry mustard, paprika, black pepper, and garlic powder and rub onto all sides of the brisket.

Place the brisket, fat side up, in the crock pot.

Cover and cook on low for 8-12 hours. Do not add any liquid as the crock pot will create steam and the brisket will release some juices.

When the brisket is tender, remove it from the crock pot and cut into thin slices across the grain. Strain the juices from the crock pot and serve alongside. You can thicken the juices with a cornstarch slurry if a thicker gravy is desired.
