Ready in: 1-2 hrs
- 6 cups flour
- 2 packages dry yeast
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 tablespoons instant minced onion, divided
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
In a large mixer bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour and yeast. Heat together milk, sugar 2 tablespoons onion, oil, mustard, salt and pepper. Pour very warm, but not hot, liquid into flour and beat with mixer for about 3 minutes or until smooth. Stir in enough of remaining flour to make a stiff dough. Let rest briefly, then form each portion into 9 balls. Flatten on greased baking sheets in about 3 1/2-inch circles. Let rise until double. Combine 2 tablespoons minced onion with 1/4 cup water and let stand for 5 minutes. Beat egg with 2 tablespoons water and brush rolls with egg; sprinkle with onions. Bake at 375 degrees F for 20-25 minutes or until done.
