Category: Rubs & Sauces
Prep Time:       Cook Time:       Total Time:

As a rule, when I grill steak (which I do about every week end), I usually sprinkle salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder on em. But as I mentioned in a blog post on here, The Wife worked at a Texas Dude ranch for while, where they had a grilled steak night and the cook used a simple rub. I have adapted that rub a little The Wife said, after grilling a couple lovely sirloins, "that is steak!". Here goes...

INGREDIENTS:

2 Jars Garlic Powder*
1 Jar Lemon Pepper*
1 Jar Butter Buds*
1 1/2 Tbl Black Pepper
1 1/2 Tsp Salt

DIRECTIONS:

In a one gallon zip lock bag, empty the jars
of Garlic Powder, Lemon Pepper and Butter Buds. Add pepper and salt. Seal the bag and shake vigorously to combine all the ingredients.

About 6 hours before grilling, rub steaks with the mix and set in the refrigerator.

About 30 minutes before grilling, remove steaks from fridge to bring to room temperature.

Prepare a medium heat grill and toss the steaks on. For medium rare, about 4 to 5 minutes per side (depending on thickness of steaks).

* By jars, I mean the standard size spice jars found on your store's spice rack. This makes a LOT of rub but will store well in the bag like the jars do.

Enjoy it...lemme know how you like it.
