1 stick unsalted butter, melted
2 lb. powdered sugar sugar
1 (7 oz.) coconut
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix butter, sugar and milk. Add coconut, vanilla and nuts. Chill.
Roll into small balls.
Chill again.
Melt 2 tablespoon Crisco shortening with 12 ounce chocolate chips over hot water.

(Very important that chocolate is not over high heat because it will get grainy, etc)


Place toothpick in each ball, dip in chocolate.
Drop on wax paper and let dry

(Recipes use to call for paraffin in chocolate instead of shortening but do not know if you can even find it anymore.
The rule is 1/2 teaspoon shortening for every ounce of chocolate, if you are reading recipe that calls for paraffin.)
