I had called Mama to get my aunt's recipe for dinner rolls, which my mother couldn't find at the time... However upon going through her recipe index she found this. Would I like a copy? Uh, yeah!

Category: Breakfast & Brunch
Prep Time:       Cook Time:   20 minutes    Total Time:

Dissolve 1 pkg dry yeast in warm water.
Add 2 tsp. sugar.
Sift 3 cups flour and a bit of salt.
Add 1 Tbsp. sugar.
Cut in 1/2 cup shortening.
Add 2 to 3 cups warm water and mix well.
Add enough flour to make a real stiff dough.

Set in greased bowl and let rise until doubled. Work down until no bubbles. (See note for rolls) Put in pans and let rise again until nearly doubled. Put in hot oven (400) until brown which is brown.

Pinch off 1 1/2 inch balls for hand-formed rolls.

15 – 20 minutes for rolls
About an hour for loaves
