This is another very old traditional recipe.

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 cup applesauce
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup chopped pecans

Beat together all ingredients until light and fluffy. Turn into greased 9X13 pan. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until knife comes out clean.
