3 eggs
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups ripe thinly sliced figs
3/4 cup canola oil
3 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 TBSP lemon juice
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Fig glaze
2 TBSP fig syrup
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 TBS lemon juice


Beat eggs; add sugar and beat well. Add the figs and oil. Sift flour, soda, salt and cinnamon. Add the fig mixture alternately with the buttermilk. Beat well. Fold in chopped nuts. Bake at 350 for 1 hour in greased and floured loaf pans.
Makes 2 large or 3 medium loaves.
For Glaze
Combine all ingredients and brush over warm bread.
