Base layer:
8 oz. spaghetti (broken into 1-2 inch pieces)
2 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 c. cottage cheese
Meat Sauce:
1 1/2 lbs. hamburger, browned
1/2 c. onion, minced
1/4 c. green pepper, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp. vegetable oil
15 1/2 oz can tomato sauce (may substitute prepared spaghetti sauce)
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. salt (for sauce)
Topping:
4 oz Mozzarella cheese
Directions:
Cook spaghetti and drain.
Stir in butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and egg until combined
Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan.
Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti.
Brown hamburger, onion, green pepper, & galic in oil until meat is browned.
Drain and stir in tomato sauce, sugar, oregano and salt.
Pour over spaghetti/cottage cheese layer.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese over meat and bake 10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted.
Let stand a few minutes before cutting.
