1/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups flour sifted with 2 teaspoons baking powder
3 eggs, separated
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp lemon flavoring
Cream shortening, add sugar gradually,continue to cream. Seperate the eggs. Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored, Add to creamed shortening and sugar; than add the flour and liquid alternately.
Add 1/2 cup fine chopped walnuts, folding in the well beaten whites of eggs and flavoring. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
