Serves/Makes: 8
Ready in: < 30 minutes

  • 2 bags (14 ounce size) frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 cups Bisquick baking mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Combine the blackberries, half of the sugar, and the water in a Dutch oven or large saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil.

While the blackberries are coming to a boil, combine the baking mix, remaining sugar, egg, milk, and oil in a bowl and mix just until it forms a moist dough.

When the blackberries are at a boil, drop the Bisquick dough but spoonfuls onto the fruit. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cover the Dutch oven. Let the dumplings cook for 15 minutes without lifting the cover.

Remove the cover and cook the dumplings until done.

Serve the dumplings and blackberry sauce, topped with fresh whipped cream.
