1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. light molasses
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. boiling water
Cream the shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses, beat thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients; add to crem mixture, alternating with water and beating after each addition. Bake in greased and floured 8x8x2-inch pan for 35 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
