- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped nuts, optional
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Add the butter to a 9x13 baking dish. Place in the oven to melt. When melted, remove the pan from the oven and place on a heat-proof surface. Let cool. Add the sugar to the melted butter and mix well. Stir in the eggs until incorporated. While stirring, add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Mix until blended. Stir in the vanilla and nuts, if using. Return the baking dish to the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until set in the middle. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares.. Store the brownies in an airtight container.
